What a fabulous Friday!! First off, I want to thank you for making sure your kids were here for all testing days and times. We had 100% and we have no make up testing! WooHoo!
Fundraiser gold card packets are due back this coming Tuesday. Please send in either the money or the unsold cards back to school with your child either Monday or Tuesday. Remember, if they sell one card they earn $300. If they sell two, they earn $500, and if they sell three they earn $1000. Sell, sell, sell.
The first grade reports came home tonight. Your child's grades are highlighted in yellow. Grades are only for my class. Read 180 grades will come home when she sends them home. Mine come home each week. If you want to know how they are doing in those classes, you will need to contact Mrs. Betts by phone or email (bettsj@billingsschools.org). The report needs to be signed and returned on Monday for a $200 reward or fine. Students were a little shocked when they saw their grades. I explained to them again, that in 4th grade we don't mess around. It is fun, but serious stuff. I don't accept anything less than their best. All the graded assignments are also listed below. All of those papers were passed back and told to be taken home to show you. Looking around my room right now, I can see that at least ten of your children have them all shoved in their desk. Haven't seen graded work? I'd come check out their desk.
Today in class we got to meet the soldier we are following to Afghanistan. He deployed the same time we started school. He has emailed the kids all about his journey. Today he skyped into the computer and we got to meet him via the computer. He is in training right now, and will be flying out in the next couple of weeks. He answered lots of questions, showed us some of his weapons, explained his uniform, and talked about how hard it was to leave his three daughters. He will be gone until May. He will then come in and meet the kids and we will celebrate his return. He is one of the soldiers the kids think about each morning when their eyes are on the flag during the pledge. So, so cool!!! Check out the pictures above. His name is Senior Master Sergeant Fink.
Well have a great weekend and try to stay dry and warm! Peace out!
P.S. If your kid can tell you what ingredient causes ice water to lower in temperature and why write the ingredient in their planner and earn them an extra $50 on Monday! Sweet!
