Exploding Volcanoes...What???

Welcome Back! We had a very busy day.

We are going to be wrapping up our small group novel studies in reading class this week. Then we will be doing a sandwich book report to show what we remember. Then next week, we will begin to read one of my FAVORITE books! Hmmm....I wonder what it could be???? Wait and see!

PTA came around today and introduced our new Read-A-Thon Fundraiser. Instead of reading for our February calendars they now need to mark their reading minutes on their Read-A-Thon envelope. Students may also get people to sponsor them. People may pledge a certain amount (25 cents or whatever) for each hour the student reads. Then they turn in the money in teh manilla envelope at the end of the two weeks. In addition, Mr. Senitte has challenged the Bitterroot Bobcats. If, as a school, we read 45,000 minutes he will get sawed in half at the magic show coming up!!!!!!! Yikes!! Is he crazy??? Speaking of the magic show...you may also purchase your tickets in advance. It will be a spaghetti dinner and magic show all in one. Seating is limited so buy now, plus it is cheaper. Information is on the Read-A-Thon packets. What an awesome way to have a Family Fun Friday Night!!!

To wrap up our science hibernation/weather/dormant animals unit we will be taking a look at volcanos. Today we talked about how dormancy plays into volcanos. Tomorrow, I will be sending home an information sheet on how to build the volcano at home. Students will not have time in class to do this. The only supplies they will need are a 2 liter bottle of diet soda (coke works best), elmers liquid glue, water, newspapers, and paint (optional). Volcanoes will be due next Monday to erupt!!!!! Fun!!

Students have music tomorrow. They need to remember to bring in their recorders. $20 to those that do.

Lastly, Ask who your child learned about today by doing a math puzzle and by reading about them in their morning work packet. Write the name of the gentleman in their planner to earn $20 tomorrow at check in.

Have a great night!! :0)
