We did our chapter review in math. The test on fractions will be on this Friday. If kids have any questions on these concepts they need to ask for help before then. We will go over the review tomorrow in class as a final review. Then, we are onto measurement.
We will also have our states and capitals test for the Western region this Friday. It will be the standard format where they need to match the state with the capital and then locate the state on a map. In Social Studies, we also started Ch. 13. It delves into seven of the largest cities found in this region. Sorry....but that does not include Billings. We will get to that though during our Montana History lessons coming up in May. Your child was assigned to read and create a news report about their western city. Ask your child what city they are doing. If they can tell you, write the name of the city in their planner for a $20 bonus tomorrow. It was fun to hear them being so creative with their news reports. Back to you Bob and Lets go live with Johnny...Hilarious!
At CC meeting this morning, we talked about our upcoming Hawaii party. Thank you to the two kids that brought their money today. Wow! Remember, I would like to have the $3 from each student by this Friday for planning reasons. All money will be put towards the end of the year field trips. We should have enough to go on at least two more trips. WooHoo! It is important to note that this money is a donation for the class effort. Students will have to buy into the events with their fake money. Field trips are a $1000 buy in for each one. Students that can not buy in at the end of the year, will not be able to join us and will have an alternative placement. Donated money will not be returned. I strongly, strongly encourage you to have serious conversations with your child about saving their money and not spending it on silly mishaps like missing assignments, talking in class, or not getting a planner signed. They all should have more than enough money RIGHT now to pay for these two trips. If they don't...then they need to seriously think about how they are going to change their behaviors at school. They still have time to earn plenty of money to go on both trips and all other buy in opportunities that come with the end of the year. (Wiffle ball tournament, bike ride to the park for lunch, mothers day egg activity, etc.)
Tomorrow is library. Please help get the books in the back pack tonight. Many kids made this their goal on their report card letter to you.
Book order forms came home tonight. I recommend numbers 45, 74, 10, 4, and 47. They are due Friday, April 29th. Students earn $100 per book ordered online or with cash. Thanks!! We have been able to buy a lot of fun books for the classroom library with your help...including our fun would you rather writing book!!!
Lastly, I want to thank all of you that have kept me in your thoughts and prayers. I am not sure if I posted that I tore my ACL in my knee. I have a long road ahead of me, but I am optimistic about my recovery. Surgery is not likely since I don't play competitive sports and really can't see myself skiing again. Just will have to be careful and stretch daily for awhile. Wish me luck...tonight is my first physical therapy session.
Have a wonderful night full of sunshine and outside playing!
