Day Two...Even Better Than Day One!!

Hello again.

Day two was just as successful as day one. We had some great things happening in class today. We studied the Native American game of Lacrosse today. We learned that it is not as easy as it looks to throw and catch a ball in a scoop. We also learned that teamwork is a huge part of the Lacrosse game. I gotta tell you, it was pretty intense. Kids were running and playing with great heart the entire time. When I blew the whistle to stop playing the phrase I heard the most was, "That was fun!" Some of your kiddos would make excellent hunters back when the game was invented. I will post some pictures later tonight from home! Fun times for all!

Today the kids also learned about the word "oath." They took an oath stating that they would do their very best to follow the classroom expectations and to keep distractions to a minimum. They then traced their right hand and glued their oath to it. Again, I will post pictures tonight, so check back later!

Kids have two pieces of homework tonight. They need to find a rock if they didn't last night, and they need to write in their nightly journal. The prompt today was: Tell me your thoughts about school so far. They MUST write at least a half page (down to the second hole in their notebook.) I will then comment back to them below it when I collect them on Friday. Students will have a nightly prompt to write on every single night except Fridays. They MUST always write at least a half page response.

Please remember to return any forms that went home on the first day tomorrow. I received most of them, but not all. Also, there are three students left that need to bring in their $3.50 for their planner by tomorrow...Monday at the latest. Thanks.

Starting Monday, we will be in full swing of things. A LOT of fake money was taken today for talking out. We talked A LOT about how this may not happen in my classroom and that I expect them to learn and grow when they do it and get a fine. It is ok to make a mistake, but they need to learn and grow from it. Please keep talking about this at home as well.

Have a great evening! It is supposed to be hot again tomorrow, so please dress cool.

PS. Earn your child $50 fake money by writing the phrase, "I love my kid!" in their planner for tomorrow. This also lets me know that you are doing your homework too parents! (Which is reading this blog every night) Yay and Thanks!!
