Thanks for talking with your kids last night. We had a much better listening day today. However, the homework is still being left undone. Please look at the planner you sign each night. Anything they have highlighted IS homework. They should be able to show you the finished project. Also, the work I assign is not just work. I want them to actually practice and learn the things I have taught them in class, and then apply it to their lives. Please look over it. I had many, many kids just writing any old word in their SS homework from last night. I actually had kids pledging to a student and placing their hands over patriotics. Really? Does that even make sense? We had many one on one conversations and the kids heard loud and clear from me that in Ms. Erickson's classroom we do our very best each and every time! Again, homework is NOT an option! Each missing assignment is costing your child $50 a pop. I guess a good way to look at it is, what would happen at your job if you did not have your job done on time? They are learning these skills right now.
We had a great time in math today. Who knew math could be so fun? Ask your child what they say when I say today's vocabulary word: annexing zeros. (Hint: It should have something to do with Darth Vador from Star Wars) Then have them explain why we turned our pencils into lightsabors today. Too cool. If they are able to share, write the word Darth in their planner to earn them an extra $50 tomorrow.
Don't forget to study spelling words tonight. Test is tomorrow. Have a great evening! Peace.
