Allow me to take a word from the texting world...OMG!!!!!! The talking in here is driving me crazy!! I feel like I say the phrase, you do not need to use your voice to move or get out supplies fifteen million times. Today, it took us 10 minutes to get ready for Social Studies. We did not get to finish our lesson because of this. It should take one minute max to transition from one thing to the next. So, here is the deal. Tomorrow there will be a huge crack down in this area. Student fines for talking will not be the standard $50 until the talking corrects itself. We have so much to do, and we are not getting it all done. In short, your child is getting ripped off when it comes to their educations because some kids can't keep it together in class, and YES it is the same kids over and over again that start talking and then everyone else thinks they can talk too. We will also limit the amount of free movement around the room, as this tends to be a problem area. They move and they talk to this neighbor and that neighbor. I am going home exhausted and feeling like I all I do is correct behaviors that have been explained over and over again. I BELIEVE that this behavior will correct itself by the end of the week, but it will be a process where some kids will not be liking Ms. Erickson for awhile. So, if your kids come home saying their teacher is mean and they lost a lot of money today then they are probably not lying. I have to correct this now, or I will have even more gray hair all year long. Thanks for your support in advance, and I really hope that this is discussed at home as well. Know that I know some kids are doing great in this area. They will not be effected by this, as they already make good choices! The only change for them is they will now get the education they deserve.
The NILE field trip will be Wed. Oct, 13th in the afternoon. I will need two chaperones. Please let me know if you can help out.
Students are to write a letter to Rusty the counselor tonight in their writing journals. They are to tell him what our class needs to work on to be more successful. This would be a great one to discuss together.
Lastly, today in our CC meeting, we talked about all different things that can make us a target for bullying to happen to us. If your child can explain this and tell you five things we wrote down then write the word Target in their planner for tomorrow's check in and they will earn $50.
