On another note, if your child is absent there are a few things you need to know. The first being I am not a fan of make up work. It generally turns out to be me chasing down kids for work that they did not learn in school. I believe that what I teach in class is very important, and can not be taught in the same way at home. Therefore, I do not require kids to make up work or complete work in advance. There are some exceptions however. If it is a test I will have the students make it up on their return. If it is reading a chapter in their reading novel, then I have them take their novel with them to read ahead or catch up. That is it. Now, that being said, I do expect kids to get on the blog when they are sick and check out what they missed. If kids have their spelling book at home, then they could do the assignment off the blog. If kids have paper at home, they could do their writing journal for that day and then staple it in their notebook upon their return. It is not required, but I LOVE when parents hold high expectations for their sick kids. Yay!
