Beaver Projects Due TOMORROW Morning!

Beaver Final Projects are due TOMORROW!!! Here is the sheet I sent home last Wednesday. Students should NOT come to school without a project tomorrow. No exceptions will be made.

Beaver Final Project

As a final project to demonstrate all that you have learned about beavers and their habitats, you will need to select one of the options below and create a 3-D visual to demonstrate it.

______ Create the beaver lodge described on the attached worksheet.

______ Demonstrate how soil and rocks are moved by running water. Show what happens to the soil and rocks due to the slowing of running water due to dam building.

______ Show a scene of a predator(s) of the beaver. Make sure to show how the beaver escapes/protects themselves.

______ Create a dam. Make sure to show the effects of the dam and why the beavers do this.

______ Create a visual showing the pros and cons of beaver dams. Make sure it is clear which are pros and which are cons. At least two of each need to be shown.

______ Other. You decide what to show. It must be something you learned in class. It is highly recommended that you get teacher approval BEFORE doing this one.

Projects must be built at home. Parents may and are encouraged to HELP. Parents, please do not take over the project and make it your own. Go with their flow and offer them suggestions. Make it fun for them.

Projects are due at school on Wednesday, October 27th by 8:25 a.m. Please make sure they are sturdy, deal with beavers, and can fit through the classroom door. Other than that, the sky is the limit. Be creative and have fun eager beavers!

Tomorrow is the beaver field trip. We will leave promptly at 8:45. We will be back before lunch time. We will eat at school at our regular lunch time. Kids need to dress warm. Hats, mittens, coats, long pants and old tennis shoes are a must. Kids may also bring electronic devices to keep them occupied on the bus trip. These are brought on their own risk and will remain on the parked bus during the field trip. Yay!!!

Your conference times came home today. Please verify that the time is fine with you and return it tomorrow. Thanks and I can't wait to sit and visit with all of you.

Tomorrow is sock it to drugs day. Kids can earn a $100 if they wear their craziest pair of socks to school.

Today, we watched the Drug Free movie about Albert becoming addicted to morphine. Kids need to write about how Albert's choices affected his entire family. They need to be specific. If you read their journal entries and talk about what they wrote write the word ALBERT in their planner for an extra $50 at tomorrow's check in.

Have a great night! I can't wait to see the projects tomorrow!
