Drug Free Week, Day One!

Great field trip today! I will post the pictures and videos later tonight. Too funny! I heard many kids mention that they did not want to come back again. They said that they would remember the faces in the windows when they were approached by their peers one day soon with opportunities to go down a negative path. My favorite part of the trip was the fact that each and every officer we came in contact with said the same phrase as I do every single day: LEARN and GROW from your mistakes. Man, Ms. Erickson does know what she is talking about. :0) Thank you, thank you, thank you Tanner's mom for helping out as a chaperone. It was great to see other parents/caretakers there as well!

A special thanks to Emma's mom for the nice note I received this morning through email! It is not too late to get those parent homework letters in the mail. Kids can earn a quick $1000 for that with your help. See earlier post called Fun in the 4th grade for details.

It was great to see so many kids say they were done or working hard on their beaver projects. Remember they are due on Wednesday.

Cold season is upon us. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Kids may have cough drops with a parent note. Please send your child to school every day unless they have a fever, are puking, or in the hospital. It is so hard when they miss and I do not do make up work so they end up kinda lost. Thanks.

Reading calendars are on their last week. They are due next Monday. This is a chunk of their reading grades. They also earn rewards for their minutes read. If they lost it, I hope they go to a working solution instead of an excuse. There were advised to keep the calendar on their fridge.

Tomorrow we will be watching the Little House on the Prairie movie. Kids bought into it today. Some also purchased popcorn and pop to go with it. We will do this after lunch.

Tomorrow is also Run Away From Drugs Day. Kids are encouraged to wear their favorite tennis shoes for a $100 reward and to show their commitment to leading a drug free life. Kids that wear red tomorrow will also earn an extra $100 reward to symbolize red ribbon week. After you have a discussion about why they would want to run away from drugs, write the words Run Away From Drugs in their planners and earn an extra $50 tomorrow during check in.

Did you see that we will be having a super surprise visitor on Thursday??? Hmmmm....wonder who that could be???? So, so exciting!!!!! Keep guessing...

Have a wonderful and warm evening.
