I LOVE DECEMBER!!!

Well, I am glad to report that after tomorrow's 8s and 12s quiz we are done with basic multiplication. The time we have spent on it has been worth it though. We will prove that starting tomorrow when we start double digit multiplication. (91 times 63). All those basic facts will come back to haunt them for sure. We will do a few each day over the next few weeks. Monday, we will move on to graphing. So, students will have that assignment plus a few multiplication problems as well. Please continue to quiz all basic facts daily. Do NOT let all our hard work fall short. Everyone involved has worked too hard to allow that to happen.

Students need to make states and capitals flashcards tonight. I will give them a laminated blank map later this week to practice writing the states.

Many students added numbers and feet to their monthly reading chains today. Some, forgot their calendars. It is too late to turn it in for credit. It was due today. Two are coming home for a parent signature tonight though. Students need to make their December calendar tonight. Due to the vacation at the end of the month, this months goal has been reduced to 500 minutes to get an A. The calendar is due on December 22nd for credit. Awesome job on reading.

We have library tomorrow. Midterms come home next week, and library grades are pretty low due to failure to return books each and every week.

Polar Express Day notices came home today. Students may buy into the fun day on Dec. 21st. It will be an all day event and we will be partnering up with Mrs. Hankin's class throughout the day as well. Kids need to purchase their candy train supplies before that day. Please do NOT send in supplies before the 21st. I have no where to store them. Kids that can't buy into the event, will have an alternate placement and work for that day. I mentioned to the class that if they have just over a thousand dollars they may want to wait to buy their candy train supplies. If they can't buy in they will not be allowed to participate. Please talk to your child tonight about how much money they have as of right now. There is still a little over two weeks to earn money. If they have made good choices, they should have no problem. Getting work done on time, following classroom expectations and reading the blog are the fastest way to earn/save money. Write down an estimated amount of money that they have in their planner, and earn $100 tomorrow at check in.

Hopefully, you can get out and make a snowman tonight before the sun goes down. Dows anyone else feel like the they leave in the dark and come home in the dark? Urg. Have a great night.
