Just an update.

Well, as you can probably guess, I am still sick. In eight years, I have never called in sick, and now I just can't seem to get better. Actually, I felt better this weekend only to wake up today sick again. I also somehow contracted pink eye in both eyes. So, I had to break down and go to the doctors today. It is official...I have a cold. So, meds today and now I know I will be better soon. I hope to be back tomorrow morning.

Today, kids started to practice playing their SE states and capitals by playing BINGO with their sub. The test will be this coming Friday. Many kids have shared that they have made flashcards and have been using their laminated blank map to practice at home. Remember they must be able to match the capital to the correct state, and they also must be able to locate each state on a map. Study, study.

In math we are chugging right along with our triple digit times a single digit problems. We have also began learning about the components of different graphs. We have covered the tally/frequency tables and the pictograph. Next we will venture into the bar and line graphs. Kids should continue to practice their basic facts on the computer each night for at least fifteen minutes.

There will be no writing journals until 2011. I will be changing the format a little bit at that point. This does not mean that you can't still have them write. Just give them a topic and have them write. You could also have them write a story using five or ten of their spelling words.

Polar Express Day is fastly approaching us. Does your child have their supplies yet? Kids will have to pay their fake $1000 this Friday in order to attend. An official notice letting you know if they were able to pay the buy in fee, will come home with your child's grade report this coming Friday. I sure hope everyone is able to participate.

Have a great night!
