Too Cute!

Hi. Please ask your child for the 3 items that need your attention tonight sheet. It is in their backpack. Thanks for you attention and help on these matters.

Today we were able to continue our research on our selected states. Kids are still excited. Next week we will learn how to capture a picture on a computer screen, save it, slide it into Word, and then size it to fit. Wow! I can't wait to see them all come together. We are planning to have them all done by next Friday so they can be displayed at the Science PTA night. Kids will also present them to the class, and the class will be required to take down some specific notes from each state. Pretty interactive! Some kids need to google some information tonight about what the people are called in their state. For example, people from Montana are called Montanans. I told them if they use a computer however they MUST log down the web address that they find the information on for their Bibliography page. They can just write this down on a piece of paper and bring it in for later use.

We started Time in math today. Kids are learning how to convert different types of time in order to compare to one another. Our last stop in Ch. 4 is to learn elapsed time. This an extremely tough skill for a 4th grader. Heck, it is hard for me. I have to think about it every time I teach it. So, we will do some together, work some alone, and then work through them together again. They will hit on it again in the 5th grade when their brains are a little more ready for those types of complex problems. After this, we go into fractions and measurement. Continue to work on multiplication and division as well daily. They came up today in converting time. I told the kids they would continue to haunt them for the rest of the year. :0)

Tonight is skate night. I hope to see you there. Remember kids that go, and say hello to me will earn $100 tomorrow. Speaking of earning money. Brooke, Jordan, Hunter, Brandon, Keyonna, and Toby earned $500 in class today for making the perfect attendance club!!!! WoooHooo!! Congrats to them. They were here every day last quarter and had no tardies. Great job you 6!

Tomorrow is the Venture Theater performances. During school, the kids will perform twice. Once at 1 and again at 2. Then the night family performance is at 6:00. I would come early, and don't forget those cameras! I heard it is going to be a great show. Even if your child is not in the play, please feel free to come and enjoy a family night out. Parents are welcome at the day shows as well.

Lastly, I promised the kids that I would show them a funny video of my son Beau singing a song about the days of the week. If kids can figure out what is wrong with his song, have them tell you, and then write it down in their planner for an extra $20 at check in. Enjoy and Cya at the rink!
