We had four students pass test one in independent spelling!!! That is awesome! They will move onto test 2 tomorrow. The other 12 will try test one again tomorrow. Third time is a charm!!!! They are getting the hang of it. The words on test one will show up again on a future test, like test 2...hint, hint! They will not just go away.
We continued our new science unit by delving into the water cycle. Now, how would that fit in with hibernation??? Well, what season does hibernation happen? We need to learn why animals go into hibernation/dormancy, and without the water cycle we could not find the answer. Ask your child what percent of the Earth is covered by water and write the answer down in their planner for a $10 bonus tomorrow.
Our first day of the new format for our writing journal was very successful. For the most part all students had it done. It was fun to see all the mistakes they caught and how they were able to use the vocabulary we have talked about in class. Yes!! The Fish Tank came home tonight. Remember, feel free to mark it up and help your child understand why they are making changes. Thanks!
We will have a Valentine's Day Party in February. There will be a $500 buy in fee. Students are learning quickly that their money is precious this time around. I hope everyone gets to join in the fun!
