Today in Social Studies we started Ch. 9. It is all about how farming has changed over time starting with the 1800s. Have your child tell you something about either the 1800s or 1900s. If they can, write the word FARMING in their planner for an extra $20 at check in tomorrow. On Friday, our farmer Ricky that came to talk to us once before will be back to tell us about and show us some of the tools used then and now. Fun!
We were able to do a lot of reviewing in math today, plus test out on fractions. Wow! Ask your child what a shout out is. Then ask them what the shout out is for parallel lines, intersecting lines, a right angle, obtuse angle, a line, a line segment, place value, value, and operation is. If they can tell you them ALL then write the word SHOUT OUT in their planner to earn an extra $20 tomorrow at check in. They rock at these!! I told them they should be dreaming about shout outs tonight so they are ready for their MontCAS session one tomorrow. By far, this is my favorite test to watch the kids shine on! Let's "dew" it!!! Kids will find out what that means tomorrow!!! Hee Hee!
We have music tomorrow. Please remind kids to bring their recorders. Have they been playing for you? Have them give you a concert tonight. The real concert is March 30th at 1:30 in the gym. Mark your calendars. That is also parent teacher conference time for primary grades, so if you have a little one try not to schedule your conference at that time.
Today in my language class we took a 4th grade language test. It pretty much covered everything we have covered thus far. I was AMAZED at how much these kiddos have learned. I can't wait to take the NWEA test in April on the computer to see their language test scores go through the roof. We have really been working hard. Our nightly writing is also improving. I am seeing less and less language mistakes, but spelling is still a little scary.
Have a great night, and don't forget those protein snacks tomorrow.
