Today in math we reviewed all of our graphs for MontCAS. We made M&M graphs including a tally/frequency table, bar graph, line plot, line graph, and pictograph. There is a good chance that your child will have to construct at least one of these graphs on the test. You could practice more at home with different types of candies or objects like stuffed animals in their rooms. Not only do they need this for the test, but I remember making these in college too!! Don't you?
In math today we also started fractions. We talked about numerators and denominators. Ask your child what the terminator and Justin Beiber have to do with fractions. We had fun laughing too. If they can tell you write the word FRACTION in their planner for $10 at check in tomorrow.
Grade Reports came home today. Remember, I am the only teacher that updates the grades weekly. If I am not their teacher in a certain area (Read 180 or PE or other specialists) their grade will not be updated until report cards. If you want an updated grade, please contact that teacher through the office. Thanks. Students that return them tomorrow will earn $100. Forget...have to pay $100.
Kids have a health test tomorrow. They SHOULD have brought home their notes over the weekend and then again today. Please quiz your child on these as Mr. Ness said that they will not be able to use their notes on this one. Study, Study.
My reading class started their AR leveled books today. They were to get a book in their level at library last week and KEEP IT AT SCHOOL! Every day they will have to show me their recorded book to earn their grade for the day. They then get 20-30 minutes in class to go off and read. All books need to be in our AR test bank. Mrs. Weiss showed them how to check in library class last week. Students will need to take two AR tests in the 4th quarter and pass with a 70% or higher. This will be a HUGE chuck of their reading grade in the final quarter. Both 5th grade classes use this program so this is good practice for next year.
Well there you have it. Have a lovely evening. Enjoy the rain...go jump in some puddles!!! :0)
