Today, we took our first NWEA test on the computers. We took the reading section. I started the day by talking about how this test is a reflection of all that your child has learned in the 4th grade. It is also a test that is built upon their own, individual levels. Man, did your kids take me seriously!! We had AMAZING growth. The results today showed many kids gaining more than ten, twenty, and even thirty points. In reading we expect kids to grow 6 to 7 points. So, anything above that is AWESOME!!!!! Holy Cow Bat Man!! I am so proud of each and every one of your kids no matter what they grew. They all worked hard, took their time, and did their very best. It shows. It also tells me that they have been paying attention in class, and that Mrs. Betts and myself did a great job teaching your kids!! Yay kids!! Yay Teachers!! Yes, I am bragging. We did a darn good job all the way around. I am even more excited for next weeks language test and the following weeks math test. I can't wait to see them grow! Wowzers!!! Ask your child how many points they grew today. If they can tell you, write the word PROUD in your child's planner for a $50 reward at tomorrow's check in.
This Friday is a Bitterroot Spirit Day. It is Support Our Troops Day. Thanks to Brooke's mom for sharing the idea. Kids are encouraged to wear camo, red, white, and blue, or RED! I will read the explanation email to the kids tomorrow behind the RED. $100 reward to those that participate in the day's activities. Plan your school appropriate outfit today! And...our soldier is home on Montana ground TODAY!!! We can't wait to meet him in person after he has had some time with his family. Fun!!
I was pretty impressed with the writing samples that came back today. I was even more impressed with the amount of children that admitted seeking their parent's help. Very cool. Tonight's would you rather is: Would you rather eat a can of cat food or seven whole lemons including the rind, seeds, juice, and pulp. If you are wondering where I get these things, it started with a book I ordered from scholastic. Then, Tanner found some would you rather cards and brought them in. They sure are fun to write about. I loved Nikki's explanation today that she would rather sleep in a helmet because she could put the eye cover down and pretend to be sleeping. Then when others came close to wake her up, she would scare them. Creative and great imagination!!
Well, have a wonderful night. And, if you do this kind of thing, I would love some positive thoughts sent up for me. Tomorrow night I go in for my knee MRI. I am hoping for good news. Man it sure does stink getting old. Thanks!
PS. I leave you with Tanner and Jordan's Western Regional Rap. Great Job you two! More to come!
