Kids are coming home tonight with a new type of writing assignment. We went over it in length and I modeled it in class. My expectation is PERFECT grammar. Spelling can be worked on, but perfect grammar is expected. NO MORE capital letter mistakes and NO MORE end punctuation mistakes. We have also talked commas to death in here. There is NO REASON for silly grammar mistakes anymore, and their grades will go down substantially from this point on. As I mentioned above, the format is also different. Tonight's is a would you rather question. The question is...Would you rather wear a motorcycle helmet to bed or have to wear your jeans and shoes to bed each night? We wrote the topic sentence together in class. Now, they have to write a half page reasoning to prove their choice. They can talk about why they chose the one they chose, why they did not chose the other one, or both. They can ask you and write your response as well. For example, they could state that Dad agrees with me or Mom disagrees and why. They can write anything about the topic. Creative and silly answers are encouraged, but again grammar is expected to be perfect. They were also reminded to have you read over it tonight before they put it away. Fun!
The B.U.G. club assembly will be April 11th at 1:15.
Lastly, in Social Studies today we wrote rap songs about the places we visited in the Western region. Ask your child about their song. If they can tell you anything about LoLo Pass, Yellowstone National Park, or the mine in Colorado then write the word WEST in their planner and earn them $20 tomorrow at check in.
Have a great night!
