Hi. Where is that rain??? Hopefully it comes tonight. We need to look for/dig worms!!!
Today, we talked about that special project coming up this week in class. This Thursday is Baby Egg Day. In honor of Mother's Day, each child will become a parent of a very precious hard boiled egg Thursday morning. Your child will quickly learn just how hard it is to be a mom/dad. All children will receive $500 fake dollars for this activity. They can decide to pay for medical insurance for their child in case of an accident. Bandaid will cost more if they do not purchase insurance right off the bat in the morning. Sound like real life?? Talk to your kiddos about health insurance and how important it is, especially in this day and age. They might also need to hire a babysitter throughout the day or pay a ransom for a kidnapped baby. Yes, if a child is left alone at their desk, I might just walk by and kidnap it. Sound real? Can we, as moms and dads just leave our kids alone as babies? Not for one second. Kidnappings happen within seconds. Whatever money they do not spend in the $500 is theres to keep. If they go over the $500 budget they will return their baby egg and not participate any longer. Talk to your child tonight about this and help them figure out a safe/small bed. Beds may not be bigger than a check book box. They can be as creative as they want. School will go on as normal on Thursday, so eggs need to not consume their entire attention/life. Sound like real life? Trust me moms, you are going to love the letters that come home explaining about their day. Funny!
In science, we talked more about worms. How many hearts does a worm have? Ask your child. If they know, write down what they say in their planner for $20 tomorrow. Also, if your child has time, could they go digging tonight? Students that bring in earthworms tomorrow will earn $100. I would really like to be able to look at them closely tomorrow in science class. Thank you to Jaylon for finding a dead crunchy one today during gym class. We had just talked about that today! Now, we can really see what happens when worms are exposed to the sun, and lose their hydration. Great find Jaylon!!! Let's add more to our collection. Worms...wanted dead or alive!
Our writing topic tonight is: Would you rather be able to move silverware or markers with your mind? Why?
Lastly, I would like to take a minute and say thank you for all the gifts for Teacher Appreciation week. I get to see how appreciated I am every day by looking at your kids eyes, but to have parents remember me means the world to me. I will enjoy my coffee card, mugs, potted plant, rootbeer and chocolate, text messages, You are a Terrific Teacher sign, and letters of appreciation. Thank you so much. On that note, I would like to share one letter I received in particular today.
Dear Ms. Erickson,
Hi. I would love to tell you how asoume of a teacher you are. Thank you for taking your time to help and correct me from wrong to right. Also thanks for teaching us how to do Native american things like laycross and all of the other stuff. I thought at the beginning of the year that you wear going to be one of the worst teachers ever...and mean ones to. Even my mom didn't know about you. But you are one of the best TEACHERS in the world! I espechily love how you do shout out words for math! I wish that 4th grade could last for ever but like you said to believe and then you can have your dream will come true for what you want to be.
Love,
Desi
Can you say tears in my eyes. This is why I do what I do! Your appreciation and you sharing it with me makes me want to be an even better teacher. Thanks!!!!
