GROSS!!!

Ok, Ok, Ok...before you call your child a liar please know that YES we did have a spitting contest today. We are reading a story that had to do with it and I wanted them to get excited about it. Now, if you know anything about kids, you know that the grosser it is the better they get it. So, I tried my best to not throw up while conducting the contest. However, I had to turn a few times! GROSS! I was SHOCKED to find out that the best girl spitter in class was Miss. Hailey and the best boy was Mr. Tobias! Never would have guessed that one! We had a great time turning our predictions into discovery sentences.

We also went to Vegas in Math class today. We were discussing the term value. Wanna earn your kid an extra $50??? (Well it is Vegas...) Ask your kid what they say when I say value and why they say that. Write their response in their planner and walla they win!! Too fun! We had a great time...who knew math could be done while laughing.

During our Character Circle meetings we have been talking about Citizenship. We dissected the pledge yesterday. I was amazed at how many kids had been making a promise daily for over four years now that they had no clue they were making. We talked about what the words allegiance and republic really mean. We also talked about indivisible, liberty, and justice. Today we talked about what America is to them. Each child did a visual of what picture came to their mind when I said America Is... Then we read a story with all different visions. Cool! Tomorrow we will venture to the flag and the meaning behind it.

I hope you all have a great night. Stay dry, and don't forget to have kids do their nightly writing journal. Peace Out!
