Read 180 started today with Mrs. Betts and Mrs. Culp. Letters went home with kids that are in the Read 180 program. They are in your child's backpacks if they received one. These five kiddos will receive their language, spelling, and reading lessons in her room. They will not do the homework I assign. Watch for the Read 180 section coming soon on this blog!!!
Today we also did our first science experiment. We conducted a taste test between Coke and Pepsi. More importantly though, we learned the six steps of the Scientific Method and wrote a complete lab report. Some students made it all the way through with me, but some students lagged behind. Therefore, those that lagged did not get a lot of time to do the actual experiment. Hopefully, on Friday all kids will pay attention and keep up with the notes so they can see how a balloon gets sucked in and out of a glass jar??????
Have your child explain the Scientific process to you from beginning to end. It starts with Idea and Ends with conclusion. Ask them about their data chart and the things that they observed using their five senses. If they are able to share, write the words Science is Cool in their planner in your handwriting and they will earn an extra $50 tomorrow at check in. WooHoo!
Let's all hope for better weather tomorrow so we can go outside and play for recess!!!
Have a great evening!
ALERT:I misinformed the kids on spelling today. There are only 5 short a words and 14 long a. Thanks Tanner's mom for catching this! :0)
