Picture Day and Reading Logs

It is FRIDAY!!!!! What a busy week!

Today is October 1st. Therefore we are starting the new reading calendar program. ALL kids need to read 600 minutes this month. That is 10 hours total. I highly recommend that they read at least 20-30 minutes per night. They need to record their minutes read on the calendar I provided. At the end of the month you will need to sign it and it will have to be returned on Monday, Nov. 1st. If the calendar is lost, kids may make a new one. (Going to a solution...YAY!) This calendar will be one of their reading grades. They are more than welcome to read more than the 600 required minutes. There will also be a fun incentive program and reward each month. Both 4th grades are participating in this.

Lunch money is becoming an issue at Bitterroot. The lunch clerk, Stephanie, has asked us to remind you to keep your child's account up to date and stocked with money. Charges are not allowed at Bitterroot. If kids don't have money for lunch, they will get a peanutbutter sandwich and a milk. Have you had the school's peanutbutter?? Not so great. Questions??? Call the school and talk with Stephanie.

Grade reports went home today. If your child had enough time on the computer, I attached their read about computer program grade sheet as well. I am a little concerned with some kids. Many kids are straight A students but are being graded at a below grade level on the computer. The report is right, so all I can figure is that kids are using their computer time as a goof off time and not doing their very best. Please chat about this so grades will go up. No worries, we have plenty of time to improve.

Lastly, don't forget Monday is picture day! Bring your best smiles! Don't forget you can order online too! :0)

For a $50 bonus, have your child explain how a hurricane is formed. They should say something about hot water, winds, earth rotation, and/or 74 mph winds at least. Write the word convection in their planner for Monday's check in.

Have a fantastic weekend!
