Well, the mighty GRIZ took a fall this weekend. After halftime, I just wanted to get into my car and drive to Missoula and give them a BELIEVE speech. They just didn't show their true power. Therefore, I will be wearing a bobcat shirt for the next seven school days. I bet my nephew, and I always hold up my ends of bets. It will be hard, but it will happen. I also made cookies for Mrs. Hankin's class, as I also lost that bet as well. I suppose I will have to give Brooke and Hailey one too, as they were my bobcat fans in class. :0) All in good fun, all in good fun.
It is a very short week this week. We have school tomorrow and then a half day on Tuesday. Then we are on Thanksgiving break. We will be packing a lot into the day and a half, so please do everything you can to make sure your child is at school and on time. We will also be doing a S.S. lab with Mrs. Hankin's class Tuesday morning.
Last Friday, we also skyped with a class in Massachusetts. We were able to see them up on the screen through the computer. They asked us a bunch of questions about our lives in Montana. We will skype with them again after the break and ask them some questions about life in Massachusetts. What a great way to end our study of the NE region.
Every child got a great present last Friday. Miss. Stringfield glued and laminated all twelve basic multiplication facts onto dry erase boards. Students put them in their bags to bring home this weekend. They need to do the top row and then get them checked by you. Then they need to fill in the rest and have you check them. They should have their 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, and 11's mastered by now. By mastered, I mean they should know them like they know their name. You say a problem, and they should say the answer immediately. We will do 6's tomorrow. Over the break, I expect them to master all of the above and the 6s. Feel free to have them do more if they are ready. I promise you that if your child does not master all 12 basic facts, they will probably become frustrated in math every day for the rest of the 4th grade. It is that important. Did you see them this weekend? If so, write MATH in their planner and they will earn a jolly rancher in math class tomorrow. Between flash cards at the table with you, these boards, and all the computer games on the blog, students have no excuse as to not learning these. None! I will not be able to spend any more time than what I have allotted to memorize these facts.
Well, have a great night! Cya tomorrow!
