Mr. Sun where are you?

BRRRRRR! Thanks for dressing warm. Unfortunately, it never got above zero with the windchill so kids were stuck inside for recess. Makes for a long day, but we made it. Keep the warm clothes up for the rest of the week.

Recorders started today. Zayden, Audrey, Jacob, Toby, Armani, Trenton, and Emma need to get their contract signed to borrow and bring home a recorder by next Wednesday please. Mr. Goodheart will be out on Wed and they don't do recorders with a sub. Then we have no school on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. day. So, they do not need recorders at school until next Wednesday. All kids have homework in music today as well. It is also due next Wednesday.

Today we talked about Buffalo Bill from Cody. I was surprised how many students have never been there. Possible field trip option this summer mom and dad??? It really is a cool museum. Who is Annie Oakley?? Find out from your child and write the word sharpshooter in their planner for an extra $10 at check in tomorrow.

In science, we began to write our opposite or free verse poems to match our snowmen we made on Friday. They are coming along slowly but surely. I am being pretty strict on the format and the rhyming lines for both poems.

Next week in Social Studies, we will begin our first research project. Part of it will be done in class, and part will be done at home. All students will need to get a small tri-fold board for the project though. They sell these at Wal-mart for under $5. Do not get the big ones, just the small ones. Standing up, they come to your child's knees. They will need these by next Monday. Each child will select a state from the Southeast or Midwest region from a hat. That is the state that they will research and report on. All kids will be required to collect data from each others reports when presenting, so listening is a huge part of that grade! I will send home a time-line and point rubric once we get going. Just try to get the board in advance if possible.

Thanks and have a wonderful evening. Stay warm!
